GPC (Graphite Petroleum Coke)
Graphite Petroleum Coke is a form of carbon that is produced by graphitizing petroleum coke at a high temperature of about 3000°C. Graphite Petroleum Coke is used as a fuel, an anode for steel and aluminum production, and a recarburizer for casting and steelmaking.
Applications of GPC
- Steel making: It is used as a carburant when producing steel. during the process of steelmaking, it often is used to increase carbon content, it is helpful to improve strength and hardness of steel.
- Foundry casting: When cast iron and other metal castings, it’s often used as carburant. It is conductive to lessen the quantity of scrap metal needed and improve the quality of the castings.
- Friction materials: It is used as a filler when producing brake pads and other friction materials. Its main function is to improve the durability and performance of these materials.
- Batteries: It is used as an electrode material in lithium-ion batteries. It is conductive to improve the conductivity and capacity of the battery.
- Carbon brushes: It is used as a raw material when producing carbon brushes, it’s used in electric motors and generators to improve the conductivity and durability of the brushes.
- Carbon products: GPC blocks are used as a raw material when producing electrodes for electric arc furnaces and other carbon-based goods.
- Chemical industry: GPC blocks are used as a raw material when producing various chemical compounds, for instance, carbon black and graphite electrodes.
